Scope
The Regional Protection Working Group (RPWG) is a collective of UN agencies, NGOs, Civil Society, faith-based organizations, and donors which provides technical protection support through data analysis, coordinated response, joint advocacy, and protection mainstreaming to countries across West and Central Africa affected by socio-political as well as natural crisis which urged a significant strengthening of protection interventions beyond the country's internal capacity, or the risk of one.
The group strives, through its capacity at the regional level, to support a wide range of protection environments, from those seeking to abate protection risk to the most critical protection situations in the region which have activated protection clusters. Specifically, the working group provides regional analysis to identify protection needs, develops common messaging and support a coordinated response, advocates for the needs of the field, and mainstreams protection principles.
