RPWG Overview
The Regional Protection Working Group (RPWG) is a broadbased group of humanitarian actors which provides analysis, coordinated response, joint advocacy, and drive the centrality of protection to countries in the West and Central Africa Region (figure 1) in order to achieve better protection outcomes.
The RPWG supports countries with varying levels of protection needs, from those attempting to mitigate or reduce the protection risks to those responding to full-fledged humanitarian or protection crises.
The RPWG is coordinated by UNHCR and co-coordinated by a co-chair ; members include UN agencies, protection clusters,
NGOs, civil society groups, as well as faith-based organizations among others. Key members are invited to join the Strategic Advisory group and get involved in the smooth running of the group. It is based in Dakar, Senegal. Terms of reference for the RPWG have been developed and further detail its role.
