Belize - 08/10/2016

Hurricane Earl- Update: Approximately 2,000 families (10,000 people) have been affected in six departments in Belize; 170 people still remain in shelters. The most affected districts were Belize City, Belize Rural, Orange Walk, Cay, and the Stann Creek districts. Water systems are being restored; however, some rural areas in the Belize district still lack electricity. Houses, utilities, and agriculture sustained damages. Furthermore, flooding remains a concern in many areas in the Cayo District and the Belize River Valley, as rivers and dams remain at high levels. Given the concern for possible flooding, water- and vector-borne disease in flooded areas is a concern.
