The new Ukhiya Specialised Hospital was inaugurated by the State Minister of Disaster Management and Relief (MoDMR), Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman, on 5 July. The hospital, which was constructed and equipped by UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, will provide specialist secondary care in the Ukhiya area, including Rohingya refugees period since the opening, some 100 patients have been treated daily. On July 28, two operation theatres were inaugurated by the Director General of the Directorate General of Health Service and Additional Director and the Civil Surgeon, Cox's Bazar, who together completed nine surgeries.
Dengue cases rose in the congested refugee camps. Some 7,700 cases have been detected and treated in 2022. Among these, sadly six patients passed away. In addition to providing health care, UNHCR and partners undertook mass cleaning campaigns with hundreds of volunteers and launched a dengue prevention campaign focusing on hygiene promotion, through household visits, meetings and megaphone messaging.
