With the support of Qatar Charity: The International Organization for Migration rebuilds a health facility for the Rohingya in Bangladesh

With support from Qatar Charity, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) has rebuilt a health facility in Cox's Bazar district in Bangladesh to improve access to healthcare services for host communities and Rohingya refugees.

According to the International Organization for Migration, as of June 2023, more than 95,000 patients have received treatment in the center, 33% of whom are from the host community and 67% are Rohingya refugees.

The reconstructed health center was inaugurated by Mr. Nawaf Abdullah Al-Hammadi, Assistant CEO of the Operations and International Programs Sector at Qatar Charity, in the presence of the Deputy Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration in Bangladesh, Mr. Nihan Erdogan, and the Director of Qatar Charity's office in Bangladesh, Mr. Amin Hafez Omar.

During the opening ceremony, Mr. Nawaf Al-Hammadi said: "We are pleased to build this health facility in partnership with the International Organization for Migration. We are committed to supporting initiatives that enhance the well-being of communities in need."

Mr. Nawaf Al-Hammadi, Assistant CEO of the International Programs Operations Sector, on behalf of Qatar Charity, thanked the Government of Bangladesh for giving it opportunities to save the needy and refugees.

For his part, the Head of Mission of the International Organization for Migration, Mr. Nihan Erdogan, said: "We are very grateful for the support provided to us by Qatar Charity, as the health facility meets the medical needs of the Rohingya refugees who live in this area in addition to the host community."

Visit refugee camps

Mr. Nawaf Al-Hammadi paid a field visit to the Rohingya camp, which was exposed to fires, and stated during his meeting with media professionals that Qatar Charity will not stop supporting and financing refugees, and that it is Qatar Charity's duty to help refugees who are suffering in their camps.

Al-Hammadi met with the Secretary of the Commissioner for Relief and Return for Refugees, Mr. Muhammad Mizan Rahman and he also met with the Director General of the Office of NonGovernmental Organizations Affairs in his office in the capital, Dhaka, and they discussed the general situation of Rohingya refugees in Cox's Bazar.
