DHAKA, May 25 (Reuters) - Lightning during a fierce hailstorm in Bangladesh killed 12 people and injured 30, police and disaster management officials said.
More than 2,000 people were made homeless as the storms battered dwellings in three districts.
Maximum casualties were reported from Nawabganj district 320 km (200 miles) north of the capital Dhaka.
Vast swathes of crops were damaged and trees and electrical poles uprooted in the seasonal tropical storms, which kill dozens, sometimes hundreds, of people in Bangladesh every year.
