Sitrep floods in Bangladesh 02 Sep 2007, 16:00 hrs

Disease outbreak situation:

- From 30 July to date (02 September 2007), 128 957 cases with 21 deaths from diarrhoea have been recorded from the flood affected areas in Bangladesh. (Case Fatality Rate = 0.02%). The following 2 tables show the detailed statistics.

- DGHS control room recorded a total of 1,916 acute watery diarrhoea cases with nil deaths in the last 24 hours from 39 flood affected districts while 454 cases of ARI with nil deaths were recorded. The following table shows the division-wise detailed statistics.

- From 30 July to date (30 August 2007), 23 180 diarrhoea cases have been admitted from the adjoining flood affected areas of Dhaka to the specialized hospital International Centre for Diarrhoeal Disease Research, Bangladesh (ICDDRB) where 07 patients died (CFR=0.03%). In the last 24 hours, a total of 601 people have been admitted to this hospital. The following table shows the detailed statistics.

- According to control room of DGHS, from 30 July to 01 September 2007, apart from diarrhoea, a total of 28 433 cases of ARI with 17deaths (CFR= 0.06%), 224 cases of snake bite with 58 deaths and 687 deaths from drowning have been recorded. Detailed statistics are shown in the following table.
