BRAC has worked in Cox's Bazar for the last 35 years, with host communities and the Rohingya population from previous influxes. We are pursuing an adaptive, phase-wise strategy to provide integrated services to everyone affected by the crisis.
RECENT HIGHLIGHTS
The first two-storied temporary learning centre, supported by UNHCR, inaugurated in Camp 4 extension. The new centre accommodates 40 children on each floor. With three shifts each day, it will be able to meet the needs of 240 children - twice the capacity of our other learning centres.
24/7 primary health centre opened in Camp 8E, making a total of two BRAC-operated 24-hour health centres in the camps. The number of night time deliveries now almost matches the number of day time deliveries, indicating acceptance by the community.
Ten stilt-houses constructed in UNHCR-supported pilot project in Camp 4 extension.
Play Labs, designed to emphasise quality of learning as a hallmark of strong early childhood education through a play-based curriculum, operational in BRAC Child Friendly Spaces across camps.
