Overview of Hazard Incidents in March, 2019

In March 2019, nine devastating hazards took place across Bangladesh including fire, lightning, hailstorm, storm, nor’ wester, building collapse, bridge collapse, boat capsize and wild animal attack.

The mostly occurred hazard of this month was fire with 24 incidents in 11 districts correspondingly Dhaka, Chattogram, Madaripur, Chandpur, Rangpur, Lakshmipur, Cumilla, Jhalokathi, Gopalganj, Gazipur and Noakhali.
Lightning took place in six districts, i.e. Habiganj, Pabna,
Kishoreganj, Sunamganj, Netrokona and Moulvibazar correspondingly with nine incidents.

Boat capsize occurred in five districts, i.e. Dhaka, Naryanganj, Patuakhali, Chandpur and Rajbari with nine incidents. Storm and nor’ wester was also devastating with eight incidents each.
