Overview of Hazard Incidences

In February 2025, seven types of hazard incidents occurred across Bangladesh, including Covid-19, Dengue, Fire, Embankment Collapse, Wall Collapse, Wild Animal Attack, and Cold Wave. To begin with, a total of three fire incidents took place in Chattogram, Dhaka, and Rangamati districts, resulting in two deaths and three injuries. In addition, several property damages were recorded, including 20 buildings in Khilgaon, Dhaka, and 30 buildings in Baghai Chhari, Rangamati, affecting the housing and tourism sectors. Moreover, one incident of embankment collapse occurred in Jessore district on 13th February 2025, severely disrupting the transport sector and likely affecting road networks and communication routes. Furthermore, Covid-19 affected a total of 28 people with no deaths during this period, all reported from Dhaka district. On the other hand, based on the DGHS daily situation report, dengue was less severe in February 2025 compared to January 2025; however, it still caused three deaths and 374 confirmed cases throughout 50 districts. Notably, Dhaka district reported the highest number of confirmed cases at 87, followed by Patuakhali with 31 cases and Chittagong with 29 cases. Additionally, one person died due to a wall collapse incident in Mymensingh district on 22nd February 2025. Similarly, one event of wild animal attack occurred in Lohagara upazila of Chattogram district on 11th February 2025, resulting in one fatality. Lastly, a mild cold wave took place on 8th February 2025, affecting six districts— Rajshahi, Pabna, Naogaon, Chuadanga, Dinajpur, and Moulavibazar—where the minimum temperature was recorded at 8.5 degrees Celsius, although no casualties were reported due to this event.
