In December 2024, Bangladesh experienced multiple hazards, including dengue, COVID-19, fire incidents, a boat capsize, and embankment collapses, affecting lives, infrastructure, and public health. Dengue remained the most significant health hazard, with 9,345 confirmed cases and 91 deaths. Dhaka was the worst-affected district, reporting 3,520 cases and 51 fatalities, followed by Khulna (558 cases, five deaths) and Chittagong (360 cases, four deaths). In December 2024, fire incidents in Bangladesh caused seven deaths, two injuries, the displacement of 3,000 people, and the destruction of 500 houses, with significant financial losses, including 3 million BDT in Banshkhali, Chittagong. Major impacted areas included Ukhia, Cox’s Bazar; Gazipur; Maulvibazar; Chandpur; and Chittagong. COVID-19 cases remained low, with 34 confirmed cases reported in Dhaka and no fatalities. However, 40 patients recovered from the virus during the month. By the end of December, Bangladesh's total COVID-19 cases reached 2,051,545, with 29,499 deaths and 2,019,243 recoveries. A boat capsizes occurred on December 1 in Koyra, Khulna, leading to one fatality. No other casualties or damages were reported. In December 2024, embankment collapses in Bandarban, Gazipur, and Khagrachhari disrupted transportation infrastructure, affecting road networks and local transport.
