At least 1,600 families in Sharankhola of Bagerhat, who were affected by cyclone Sidr in 2007, yesterday received new houses built by the Indian government. Food and Disaster Management Minister Abdur Razzaque and Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Rajeet Mitter handed over the holding to the recipients at Rayenda Primary School in Bagerhat. Twelve hundred similar houses will be handed over to the Sidr victims in Morelganj shortly.
