Heavy rainfall and strong winds continued to affect several districts, mainly in the north-east and south-east of Bangladesh since mid-May, causing floods, flash floods and several rivers to overflow that have resulted in an increased number of casualties and widespread damage. The affected districts are Sylhet, Sunamganj, Moulvibazar, Netrokona, Khagrachari, Habiganj, Noakhali, Bhola, Bandarban, and Rangamati.
The Bangladesh Red Crescent Society reports, as of 4 June, five fatalities across the Khagrachari district, and several evacuated people in a number of temporary shelters across the Noakhali district. In addition, the same source also reports thousands of displaced people and several destroyed houses throughout all the aforementioned affected districts.
Over the next 72 hours, more heavy rainfall with locally very heavy rainfall is still forecast over most of the country.
