Context
The protracted population movement crisis has impacted 984,591 displaced people from Myanmar who are living in 33 congested camps including 35,357 people who have been relocated to Bhasanchar Island, and 445,972 from the host community population who are assisted by humanitarian agencies. The displaced people entirely reliant on humanitarian aid to meet their basic needs. The population comprises 51% females and 49% males, with 52% being children, 44% adults, and 4% older people. Additionally, there are 5.57% extremely vulnerable individuals, including 2.36% persons with disabilities who have special needs. The vulnerabilities is further compounded by recurrent seasonal cyclone, heavy rainfall, fire incidents and other multihazards amidst the uncertainty of repatriation in the foreseeable future.
The situation along the Bangladesh-Myanmar border and within the camp settlements has been continuously raising significant security concerns in June. Amidst the ongoing war between the junta forces and armed groups in Myanmar, 28 Border Guard Police (BGP) officers were reported seeking shelter in Bangladesh. Consequently, a new influx of people from Rakhine State to Bangladesh is highly likely. Also, several drug trafficking, targeted killings, armed conflicts, and fire incidents have been reported within the camp settlement during the month.
PMO in brief
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) continues the implementation of the PMO for the displaced people covering 33 camps and four affected host communities, the operation is supported by the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and eight National Societies in country i.e. American Red Cross, Danish Red Cross, German Red Cross, Japanese Red Cross, Qatar Red Crescent, Swedish Red Cross, Swiss Red Cross and Turkish Red Crescent.
The operation is guided by emergency appeal, 2022-2024, focusing on three key strategic objectives.

In line with broad strategic objectives, BDRCS, with its trained volunteers and staff members leads the operations with the support of its partners and continues implementation of the sectoral programme in the areas of Shelter, WASH, Health, Livelihoods, Disaster Management, and Protection Gener Inclusion a, Community Engagement and Accountability in the camps and host communities. Coordination continues with the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC), Deputy Commissioner, other gov., NGOs and UN agencies for the smooth operation of the project activities.
