Context

The population movement crisis which is a protracted crisis has been impacting 981,064 Displaced people from Myanmar living in 33 congested camps. 35,255 out of the total displaced people in camps have been relocated to Bhasanchar Island. Besides 445,972 the crisis also impacts the host community population. The displaced people rely on humanitarian aid to meet their basic needs. 51% females and 49% males make up the population including 52% children, 44% adults and 4% older people, as well as 5.56% extremely vulnerable individuals including 2.35% being persons with disabilities, having special needs. The recurrent seasonal cyclone, heavy rainfall, landslides, fire incidents and other multi-hazards further compound their vulnerability amidst the uncertainty of repatriation in the foreseeable future.

The security situation has been heightened in the border areas with armed conflicts between the Myanmar army and the Arakan Army and increased security incidents inside camps between rival terrorist groups, abduction, murder, unlawful possession of weapons, and road traffic accidents. Security advisories are continuously shared with all the staff members.
