Medical Team in Sylhet Flash Flood 2024

Over a period of seven-days, the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society’s mobile medical teams delivered emergency healthcare to a total of 4,493 patients across the two districts. This included 1,676 male patients, 1,838 female patients, and 979 child patients. The team treated common ailments such as respiratory infections, waterborne diseases, and injuries sustained during the flood. Equipped with ample medical supplies and equipment, the teams ensured effective patient care.

Summary Report of MMT Deployment in Flash Flood affected Area Sylhet & Sunamgonj

1. Introduction

In response to Flash flood, a thorough medical response has been launched to meet the urgent healthcare needs of people in Sylhet and Sunamganj Districts. This report outlines the efforts of the Medical Teams (MMTs) deployed in these areas. The deployment took place from June 2 to June 8, 2024. Each MMT comprised 04 medical doctors, 02 midwives, 02 psychosocial support (PSS) volunteers, and 4 Red Crescent Youth (RCY) volunteers to enhance emergency health services.

2. Purpose of the MMTs Deployment

The deployment aimed to provide medical treatment to general and emergency patients while also addressing the psychosocial well-being of those affected by the recent flash floods. Alongside medical care, patients received free medication support.
