The prevailing flash flood situation in the district of Moulvi Bazar may remain unchanged and in Habiganj, the situation likely to improve.
RAINFALL
Light to heavy rainfall at most places over the Meghna basin, light to moderate rainfall at many places over the Brahmaputra basin and nil rainfall over the Ganges & the South Eastern Hill basins has been recorded during last 24 hours ending at 9 A.M. today. Significant rainfall was recorded 75.0 mm at Sunamganj, 55.5 mm at Jariajanjail, 47.0 mm at Durgapur, 42.0 mm at Nakuagaon, and 38.0 mm at Sherpur during the same period.
GENERAL RIVER CONDITION
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna observed rise at all points except at Aricha. The Ganges-Padma recorded fall at downstream points. Most of the rivers in the Meghna basin registered rise. All the rivers in the South Eastern Hill basin recorded fall except the Naf at Teknaf. Out of 86 monitoring points, 34 points recorded rise, 25 points observed fall, 5 points remained steady and among them 2 points are flowing above danger level. The detail of the basin report is as follows:
BRAHMAPUTRA BASIN
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna registered rise by 15 cm at Chilmari, 10 cm at Bahadurabad, 4 cm at Serajganj and remained steady at Aricha. The Teesta recorded rise by 49 cm at Dalia and by 16 cm at Kaunia. The Old Brahmaputra observed further rise by 21 cm at Jamalpur and by 5 cm at Mymensingh. The Buriganga at Dhaka observed fall by 10 cm. The Lakhya at Narayanganj also recorded fall by 5 cm. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger level.
GANGES BASIN
The Ganges-Padma observed fall by 7 cm at Goalundo, 16 cm at Bhagyakul and remained steady at Pankha. The Karatoa at Panchagarh receded by 2 cm. The Punarbhaba at Dinajpur also registered fall by 4 cm. The Gorai registered rise by 8 cm at Kamarkhali and remained steady at Gorai Rly Bridge. The Kumar recorded rise by 5 cm at Faridpur. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger level.
MEGHNA BASIN
The Surma recorded further rise by 13 cm at Kanaighat, 12 cm at Sylhet and by 20 cm at Sunamganj. The Kushiyara also registered further rise by 8 cm at Amalshid, 14 cm at Sheola and by 10 cm at Sherpur. The Manu marked fall by 89 cm at Chatlaghat, 178 cm at Manu Rly Bridge while it registered rise by 12 cm at Moulvi Bazar and the river is flowing above danger level by 12 cm at Moulvi Bazar. The Khowai registered fall by 47 cm at Ballah, 153 cm at Habiganj and the river is flowing 52 cm above danger level at Ballah. The Dhalai registered fall by 75 cm at Kamalganj and is flowing below danger level. The Bhugai marked fall by 55 cm at Nakuagaon. The Someswari recorded rise by 15 cm at Durgapur. The Meghna registered rise by 7 cm at Bhairab Bazar. The Gumti also recorded rise by 35 cm at Comilla. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger levels except the Manu at Moulvi Bazar and the Khowai at Ballah.
SOUTH EASTERN HILL BASIN
The Halda registered fall by 10 cm at Narayanhat and by 7 cm at Panchpukuria. The Sangu observed sharp fall by 140 cm at Bandarban and by 37 cm at Dohazari. The Matamuhuri also recorded fall by 41 cm at Lama and by 58 cm at Chiringa. The river Feni at Ramgarh recorded fall by 4 cm. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger levels.
