RAINFALL
Light to moderately heavy rainfall at most places with heavy fall at one or two places over the Brahmaputra, Meghna & South Eastern Hill basins and heavy rainfall at one or two places over the Ganges basin has been recorded during last 24 hours ending at 9 A.M. today. Significant rainfall was recorded 73.0 mm at Kaunia, 68.5 mm at Rangpur, 63.2 mm at Dinajpur, 63.0 mm at Sherpur, 60.5 mm at Nakuagaon and 56.2 mm at Panchagarh during the same period.
GENERAL RIVER CONDITION
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna showed further rise at all points. The Ganges-Padma also registered rise at all points except at Pankha. Most of the rivers in the Meghna and the South Eastern Hill basins recorded further fall. Out of 86 monitoring points, 27 points observed rise, 35 points recorded fall and 2 points remained steady. The details of the basin report are as follows:
BRAHMAPUTRA BASIN
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna observed further rise by 6 cm both at Noonkhawa & Chilmari, 14 cm at Bahadurabad, 23 cm at Serajganj and by 20 cm at Aricha. The Dharla registered fall by 6 cm at Kurigram. The Teesta recorded fall by 22 cm at Dalia while it registered rise by 8 cm at Kaunia. The Old Brahmaputra registered further fall by 5 cm at Jamalpur and by 9 cm at Mymensingh. The Buriganga observed rise by 10 cm at Dhaka. The Lakhya registered rise by 4 cm at Narayanganj. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger level.
GANGES BASIN
The Ganges-Padma observed fall by 5 cm at Pankha while it registered rise by 5 cm at Hardinge Bridge, 11 cm at Goalundo and slight fall at Bhagyakul. The Karatoa at Panchagarh observed slight rise. The Punarbhaba also registered rise by 7 cm at Dinajpur. The Gorai at Gorai Rly Bridge observed rise by 3 cm while it receded by 7 cm at Kamarkhali. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger level.
MEGHNA BASIN
The Surma recorded further fall by 46 cm at Kanaighat, 23 cm at Sylhet and by 7 cm at Sunamganj. The Kushiyara also registered further fall by 44 cm at Amalshid, 50 cm at Sheola and by 8 cm at Sherpur. The Manu marked rise by 5 cm at Chatlaghat but receded by 18 cm at Manu Rly Bridge and by 5 cm at Moulvi Bazar. The Khowai registered rise by 8 cm at Ballah but receded slightly at Habiganj. The Someswari recorded fall by 16 cm at Durgapur. The Meghna at Bhairab Bazar registered rise by 4 cm. The Gumti registered fall by 7 cm at Comilla and by 5 cm at Debiddar. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger levels.
SOUTH EASTERN HILL BASIN
The Halda registered slight fall both at Narayanhat and Panchpukuria. The Sangu also registered slight fall at Bandarban and at Dohazari it registered fall by 5 cm. The Matamuhuri recorded slight fall at Lama. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger levels.
