RAINFALL
Nil rainfall observed at Brahmaputra and South Eastern Hill basin. Light to moderate rainfall at one or two places over the Ganges and Meghna basins has been recorded during last 24 hours ending at 9 A.M. today. Significant rainfall was recorded 25.0 mm at Lorergarh during the same period.
GENERAL RIVER CONDITION
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna showed further rise at all points except at Aricha. The Ganges-Padma registered fall at upstream points while it registered rise at downstream points. Most of the rivers in the Meghna and the South Eastern Hill basins recorded further fall. Out of 86 monitoring points, 18 points observed rise, 40 points recorded fall and 6 points remained steady. The detail of the basin report is as follows:
BRAHMAPUTRA BASIN
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna observed further rise by 25 cm each at Noonkhawa, 20 cm at Chilmari, 15 cm at Bahadurabad and 12 cm at Serajgaonj while it remained steady at Aricha. The Dharla registered further rise by 14 cm at Kurigram. The Teesta recorded rise by 22 cm at Dalia but it observed slightly fall at Kaunia. The Old Brahmaputra registered further fall by 10 cm at Jamalpur. The Buriganga observed fall by 4 cm at Dhaka. The Lakhya registered rise by 5 cm at Narayanganj. The Turag also registered slight rise at Mirpur. The Tongi khal at Tongi also observed slight rise.
GANGES BASIN
The Ganges at Pankha observed further fall by 5 cm at Pankha and by 3 cm at Goalundo while it registered rise by 7 cm at Bhagyakul and slight fall at Hardinge bridge. The Karatoa at Panchagarh observed slight fall. The Punarbhaba remained steady at Dinajpur. The Atari observed slight fall at Mohadebpur. The Gorai remained steady at Gorai Rly Bridge. The Kumar also remained steady at Faridpur. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger level.
MEGHNA BASIN
The Surma recorded further fall by 51 cm at Kanaighat, 27 cm at Sylhet and by 4 cm at Sunamganj. The Kushiyara registered further fall by 55 cm at Amalshid, 31 cm at Sheola and by 10 cm at Sherpur. The Manu marked further fall by 12 cm at Chatlaghat, 8 cm at Manu Rly Bridge and by 35 cm at Moulvi Bazar. The Khowai registered further fall by 7 cm at Ballah and by 11 cm at Habiganj. The Someswari recorded fall by 27 cm at Durgapur. The The Kangsha marked fall by 9 cm at Jariajanjail. The Meghna remained steady. The Gumti registered fall by 4 cm at Comilla and by 12 cm at Bebiddar. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger levels.
SOUTH EASTERN HILL BASIN
The Halda receded further both at Narayanhat and Panchpukuria. The Sangu also receded by 4 cm at Bandarban and by 18 cm at Dohazari. The Matamuhuri remained steady at Lama but receded by 4 cm at Chringa. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger levels.
