RAINFALL
Light to moderately heavy rainfall at several places over the country has been recorded during last 24 hours ending at 9 A.M. today. Significant rainfall was recorded 40.0 mm at Sunamganj, 32.0 mm at Kaunia and 20.0 mm at Durgapur during the same period.
GENERAL RIVER CONDITION
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna showed rise at upstream points. The Ganges-Padma registered further rise at downstream points. Most of the rivers in the Meghna and the South Eastern Hill basins recorded further fall. Out of 86 monitoring points, 16 points observed rise, 44 points recorded fall and 4 points remained steady. The detail of the basin report is as follows:
BRAHMAPUTRA BASIN
The Brahmaputra-Jamuna observed rise by 25 cm each at Noonkhawa & Chilmari, 9 cm at Bahadurabad while it receded by 4 cm at Serajganj and slight fall at Aricha. The Dharla registered rise by 11 cm at Kurigram. The Teesta recorded fall by 4 cm at Dalia but it observed rise by 7 cm at Kaunia. The Old Brahmaputra registered further fall by 11 cm at Jamalpur and by 8 cm at Mymensingh. The Buriganga observed rise by 10 cm at Dhaka. The Lakhya registered slight rise at Narayanganj. The Turag also registered slight rise at Mirpur. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger level.
GANGES BASIN
The Ganges-Padma observed further rise by 8 cm at Bhagyakul but receded by 8 cm at Goalundo and remained steady at Pankha. The Karatoa at Panchagarh observed further rise by 9 cm. The Punarbhaba at Dinajpur recorded slight fall. The Atari observed slight rise at Mohadebpur. The Gorai recorded slight rise at Gorai Rly Bridge. The Kumar receded further by 5 cm at Faridpur. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger level.
MEGHNA BASIN
The Surma recorded further fall by 51 cm at Kanaighat, 25 cm at Sylhet and by 4 cm at Sunamganj. The Kushiyara registered further fall by 57 cm at Amalshid and by 12 cm at Sherpur. The Manu marked further fall by 14 cm at Chatlaghat, 28 cm at Manu Rly Bridge and by 45 cm at Moulvi Bazar. The Khowai registered further fall by 5 cm at Ballah and by 9 cm at Habiganj. The Someswari recorded rise by 6 cm at Durgapur. The The Kangsha marked fall by 8 cm at Jariajanjail. The Meghna observed slight fall at Bhairab Bazar. The Gumti remained steady at Comilla but receded by 19 cm at Bebiddar. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger levels.
SOUTH EASTERN HILL BASIN
The Muhuri observed slight fall at Parshuram. The Halda receded slightly both at Narayanhat and Panchpukuria. The Sangu also receded by 4 cm at Bandarban and by 10 cm at Dohazari. The Matamuhuri recorded slight fall both at Lama and Chringa. All the rivers in this basin are flowing below their respective danger levels.
