Summary: CHF 125,874 (USD 113,575 or EUR 91,697) was allocated from the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent's (IFRC) Disaster Relief Emergency Fund (DREF) on 22 June 2010 to support the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society (BDRCS) in delivering immediate assistance to 1,300 families (approximately 6,500 people) affected by landslide in Cox's Bazaar and Bandarban districts.
BDRCS, with the support of IFRC under the DREF operation, responded to the landslide that occurred in Cox's Bazaar and Bandarban, two south-east districts of Bangladesh, on 15 June 2010 by providing emergency and supplementary food, nonfood items and emergency shelter materials. The distribution of non-food item packages along with shelter materials among the 1,300 families of Teknaf and Ukhia upazilas (sub-districts) of the Cox's Bazaar district was completed by 29 June 2010 and the distribution of the food packages completed by 17 July 2010. The non-food items were distributed from IFRC and BDRCS joint disaster preparedness stock. The replenishment of these items has also been completed.
A team from European commission humanitarian aid office in Dhaka visited two affected unions under Ukhia upazila along with IFRC representative to see the impact of DREF relief operation on 3 October 2010.

The replenishment of this DREF was made posible due to the contribution of ECHO.
The remaining balance of CHF 16,196 (USD 17,010 or EUR 12,966) will be returned to the IFRC's DREF.
