Bangladesh - Floods and landslides (Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, UNHCR, media, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 3 June 2025)

  • Heavy monsoon rainfall, resulting in floods and landslides, affected Rohingya refugee camps in Cox's Bazar, on Bangladesh's southeastern coast, over 31 May and 1 June, causing death, damage, and displacement.
  • According to the UNHCR, the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, and media reports, one person was killed, 11 were injured by lightning, and over 1,400 homes were damaged across 33 refugee camps. Communal spaces have been converted into temporary shelters for affected families.
  • Over the next 48 hours, moderate rain is forecast for Cox's Bazar, while isolated heavy to very heavy rain is expected in the northeast of the country.
