Overview

Bangladesh is the second most disaster-prone country in Asia and the Pacific according to the 2015 risk analysis of OCHA’s Global Focus Model. From 2005 to 2015, droughts, floods, landslides and storms affected 46 million people and caused around 6,900 deaths. Located close to two active tectonic plates, the country is also exposed to significant risk of a major earthquake.
Bangladesh hosts over 30,000 registered Rohingya refugees from Rakhine State (Myanmar) and between 300,000 to 500,000 unregistered Myanmar nationals.*
