Brief Assessment Report
Context
On Friday, 22nd March 2013 at around 5.10 pm a terrifying tornado touched down in Brahman Baria Sadar Upazila. In less than 15 minutes the tornado spread its devastation leaving behind 31 deaths including a child, injuring over 388 people and causing widespread damage estimated roughly BDT 5,000 million in 15 villages of 3 Upazilas in B.Baria. 1,283 families were heavily affected, 388 families were partially affected families; 1,778 houses were completely destroyed, 744 were partially destroyed. 200 ft boundary wall and 420 ft security wall of district prison collapsed, road communication disrupted due to tumbled trees.
