Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh: Fourteen Rohingyas were sent to jail in Bangladesh on March 10, in the evening, according to police officer of Ukhiya police station.
The fourteen Rohingyas were arrested by Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) while they were penetrating to Bangladesh from Burma on March 19. The BGB of Palong Khali out-post under the BGB Battalion No.17 of Cox’s Bazar District arrested them while they were trying to go to Cox’s Bazar by a micro-bus. The BGB also seized the microbus. After arrest, they were sent to Ukhiya detention center through court, said the BGB official.
The arrested Rohingyas are identified as---Akram Uddin (20), Mohamed Ayas (28), Sadam Hussain (19), Mohamed Enus (22), Mohamed Fayas (18), Nurul Amin (20), Mohamed Taher (29), Eliyas (20), Rashid Ahmed (25), Abdu Rahaman (18), Mohamed Tayub (22), Mohamed Ansar (22), Mohamed Idris (18), and Jani Alam (15), the BGB official more added.
Lt Col Khondakar Saiful Alam of BGB Battalion No.17 of Cox’s Bazar said on March 9, at about 2:00 pm, the Rohingyas were arrested by BGB while they were trying to go to Cox’s Bazar by a micro-bus after crossing the Burma- Bangladesh border.
Ukhiya police station officer (OC) Zahirul Islam Khan said, “A case is filed against them with Act (14) by Ukhiya police station and send to jail.”
Besides, on March 10, another 9 Rohingyas were also arrested by BGB personnel of Gondom out-post camp while crossing Burma-Bangladesh border in the morning and were brought to their camp. However, they were pushed back to Burma at around 3:00pm, after providing food and other necessary things, BGB official said.
The BGB battalion commander Saiful said, “They are vigilant to stop the Rohingyas’ penetration to Bangladesh.”
