US presents Azerbaijan 6 dogs-mine-detectors

Baku Today / Turan 17/06/2005 - The American Marshal Legacy Institute has presented the Azerbaijani Agency for clearing of territories from mines (ANAMA) six dogs-mine-detectors.

According to the Head of the Institute Perry Baltimor, the dogs had been received with the help of the American donors.

According to the Director of ANAMA Nazim Ismailov, the price of dogs presented to the agency is over $100,000.

Besides, today UNICEF and ANAMA signed agreement on continuation of the measures on mine-safety in the schools. UNICEF will fund issue of 12,000 books for this purpose. UNICEF has issued already 15,000 textbooks for 300 schools, the Azeri representatives of this organization Khana Singer told.

The representative of the US Department of State Peboran Netiav told that the government of America had allocated $11 million for the cleaning of territories in Azerbaijan from mines. Every year the Department of State allocates $3.5 million to Azerbaijan for these purposes.
