Mine action: Great Britain granted $250 thousand to Azerbaijan

Government of the Great Britain granted $250 thousand for realization of the program "Combat with Mine Threat".

The UN Resident-Coordinator, UNDP representative Marco Borsotti and director of ANAMA (Azerbaijan National Agency of Mine Actions) Nazim Ismayilov signed a relevant document. According to the Director of ANAMA, this structure has cleared 4 million km2 of liberated territories from mines. Mr. Ismayilov highly appreciated Britain's assistance and assured that all the allocated funds would be spent entirely on the relevant operations.

Mr. Marco Borsotti said that ANAMA's effective work had gained GB's confidence.

British ambassador to Azerbaijan A. Tacker noted that the work fulfilled by ANAMA is of a great significance for the IDP's to return to their native land.
