Heavy rains in the republic caused landslides in different regions. Landslides mainly occurred in the foothills. As the upper layer of the soil absorbs more water, it causes the slope to slide.

The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources told journalists that a delegation of geologists from the ministry will review the regions and assess the scale of the landslides. Monitoring was set up in areas where landslides occur regularly. Such observation projects were formed in Agsu, Jalilabad, Lerik, Shamakhi and Siyazan. Specialists control the landslide areas, observe the speed of natural disasters, and prepare geological plans. Specialists also state that the possibility of landslides in other regions is great.
