Heavy rainfall hit eastern and northern Azerbaijan, particularly the Baku city area, on 5 and 6 April, causing landslides and severe flooding that resulted in casualties and damage.
According to media, as of 7 April, one person died in the village of Gunduzgala in the Gusar region of northern Azerbaijan, due to a mudflow, and one person has been injured in Baku city due to a landslide. In addition, at least 166 people have been displaced in Baku, including 58 in the Keshla settlement. The regions most affected are Absheron, Hajigabul, Khizi, Shabran, and Khachmaz.
On 8-9 April, drier conditions are forecast over the affected areas.
