Heavy rainfall hit eastern Azerbaijan, particularly the Absheron peninsula, on 21-23 October, causing severe flooding that resulted in casualties and damage.
According to media reports, as of 24 October, two people died due to flooding in the Sabunchu district of the capital city of Baku, at least 31 people have been displaced and several people have to be rescued from their flooded homes. In addition, several buildings and roads have been affected, causing traffic disruptions. The most affected districts are Sabunchu, Surakhani, Khazar, Binagadi and Yasamal in Baku city area.
On 25-26 October, drier conditions are forecast over the whole country.
