Natural disasters are estimated to have cost agricultural production around $2.3 billion, according to the nation's agriculture and resource forecaster.
The Australian Bureau of Agriculture and Resource Economics and Sciences (ABARES) modelled the impact of excessive rainfall, flooding and Tropical Cyclone Yasi on agriculture in 2010 to 2011.
Economists found the losses total around $2.3 billion, with the cyclone contributing $300 million.
The bureau found the adverse weather events knocked about half a percentage point off growth.
The losses were similar for the coal industry, with ABARES estimating $2-2.5 billion in lost productivity between December and March.
