Australia's multi billion dollar foreign aid program is set for a major overhaul . .
..if Prime Minister Tony Abbott's government accepts the recommendations of a National Commission of Audit.
Its report echoes the views of Foreign Minister Julie Bishop that overseas aid needs to be more effectively managed and more strategically targeted.
It's also recommends that Australian aid should go to fewer countries, with a focus on neighbouring countries of strategic interest.
