Buenos Aires (dpa) - Heavy thunderstorms in Argentina left two children dead and many more people injured by Wednesday, while widespread flooding has forced the evacuation of some 50,000 people.

Meteorologists have warned of more rainstorms and winds reaching speeds of 80 kilometres per hour, which have in recent days downed hundreds of trees, disrupting traffic in the capital.

Two children, aged seven and eight, were killed and some 25 people were injured when a tree crashed through their emergency shelter in the industrial city of Rosario north of Buenos Aires.
