HIGHLIGHTS:
ARGENTINA: Heavy rains displaced over 10,000 people due to floods.
BRAZIL: Flooding from heavy rains has left more 15,400 people evacuated in Rio Grande do Sul.
URUGUAY: The rise in the Uruguay River's level left more than 6,000 evacuated.
FLOODS
Heavy rains have affected several countries in South America. In Argentina over 10,000 were evacuated. In Brazil 11 people died and over 15,400 people in Rio Grande do Sul were evacuated. In Uruguay over 6,000 people were evacuated in the northern and central area.
ARGENTINA: Flooding from heavy rains has claimed the lives of 2 people and more than 10,000 people were evacuated. The provinces of Entre Rios, Chaco and Santa Fe are the most affected. (1)
On 30 November, the Government declared a state of agricultural disaster in 14 provinces affected by several weather conditions, which include hail, cold, rain and drought. The statement covers the areas of Mendoza and Salta (hail), Buenos Aires, Catamarca, Cordoba, Corrientes, La Pampa, Rio Negro, Santa Cruz and Santa Fe (drought), San Juan (rain), Santiago del Estero (drought and cold) and Chubut (cold). This measure provides assistance to people that have lost at least 50% of their production. (2)

BRAZIL: Heavy rains have hit the southern area of the country causing the death of 11 people. Some 15,400 people were evacuated in Rio Grande do Sul. Damages to infrastructure and agriculture in Southern Brazil since November 13 are estimated at over US$ 2 million. Some 60 towns are in state of emergency.
