Argentina - Severe weather (SMN Argentina, GDACS, CtNat) (ECHO Daily Flash of 15 December 2023)

  • Severe weather, including heavy rainfall and thunderstorms, has been affecting central and northeastern Argentina since 13 December causing severe weather-related incidents that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • According to media reports, as of 14 December, two people died in Entre Ríos Province, the most affected area, due to a severe weather-related incident. More than 70 families have been displaced in Olavarría City, Buenos Aires Province and 40 people have been evacuated across Santa Fe and Entre Ríos Provinces. In addition, several buildings have been damaged and many roads have been blocked in many areas of Entre Ríos, Villaguay City is affected by power outages.
  • Over the next 24 hours, more heavy rainfall is forecast over the affected provinces.
