Since 7 March, Buenos Aires province, central-eastern Argentina, has been affected by heavy rainfall and consequent floods that resulted in fatalities, displacement and damage. The area most severely affected was the Bahia Blanca city area in the southern part of Buenos Aires province.
According to the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), as of 10 March, at least 16 people died, two are missing, 800 people were injured, 2,725 people have been displaced and sheltered in more than 15 evacuation centres, and a total of 169,000 people were affected in the Bahía Blanca city area.
Rescue and emergency operations are ongoing for the reported missing people.
For the next 48 hours, drier conditions are expected with only isolated moderate rainfall over the east of Buenos Aires province.
