Argentina - Floods (IFRC, NOAA-CPC) (ECHO Daily Flash of 01 April 2025)

  • In northern Argentina, the overflowing Pilcomayo and Bermejo rivers have caused significant floods and flash floods, resulting in significant damage and power outages in Salta province, particularly the Chaco region of Salta. The situation is worsened by intense winds exceeding 100 km/h.
  • As of March 31, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) reports that 2,000 people have been affected. Local authorities activated emergency protocols and conducted immediate evacuations in high-risk areas.
  • Over the next 48 hours, moderate rainfall with isolated heavy rainfall is expected to continue in northern Argentina.
