Ondjiva - At least 72 anti-personnel and one anti-tank landmines were removed and destroyed in January/April period this year in southern Cunene province.
The operation was carried out by the de-mining brigade of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) in the region.
The fact was disclosed Thursday by the commander of the referred brigade, Lt. Col Jorge António “Jojo" who referred that the explosive devices were collected in the districts of Cuvelai and Namacunde.
The de-mining brigade cleared out 600 square metres covering Ondova/Kafima and Ondjiva, Oshikuku roads, as well as Hongo/Shiedi.
