Over 35,000 children vaccinated against polio

Huambo - At least 35,275 children of Londuimbali district, about 92 kilometres north of the city of Huambo, were immunised during the second campaign of vaccination against poliomyelitis, in comparison to 30,000 vaccinated in the previous period.

ANGOP learnt of the information this Monday from the head of the health department in Londuimbali, Hilário Marcelino, who said that the increase in the number results from the increase in the number of vehicles from four to ten, which enabled vaccinators to work in every region of the district.

At least 221 vaccinators were involved in the campaign, and were divided into 72 groups that immunised children in the district's headquarters and in the communities of Alto-Hama, Cumbila, Ussoque and Galanga.

The provincial health department in Huambo provided more than 35,000 doses of vaccines for the success of this second campaign against poliomyelitis.
