NGOs invest USD 8.0 million in assistance of vulnerable families

Kuito – At least eight million dollars was donated in 2011 by NGOs that operated in the central Bié province in assistance of vulnerable families.

This was said to Angop this Tuesday in Kuito city by the provincial coordinator of Technical Unit of Coordination for Humanitarian Aid (UTCAH), Feliz Jéngua.

He said that the amount was invested in the implementation of various social projects, aimed at fighting poverty and reducing poverty in communities.

Feliz Jéngua informed that about 350.000 families benefited from various support, through projects of education, health, energy and water, social assistance, construction of social infrastructures, agriculture, means of survival, basic sanitation and de-mining, among others.

The coordinator stressed that the families also received academic training, distant teaching courses, HIV/Aids lessons, distribution of mosquito nets to fight malaria, food, domestic utensils and various agriculture inputs.

Moreover, Feliz Jéngua said that UTCAH controls 25 NGOs.
