Japanese Government donates over Usd 500,000 for demining

Luanda - The Government of Japan Wednesday in Luanda handed over Usd 589.614 to the Mines Advisory Group (MAG) - an international NGO based in England - to support a demining project in Luchazes municipality, Angola’s eastern Moxico province.

he donation agreement was signed by the ambassador of Japan to Angola, Ryozo Myoi, and MAG director in Angola, Jessica Riordan.

Speaking to the press, MAG director said the project is being implemented in Luzi ward, locality of Cassamba, Luchazes municipality.

Jessica Rirodan stressed that the project is designed to demine 120.000 square metres and cover awareness campaigns on issues related to landmine dangers.

The project is also intended to ensure security in the community over an area of 106.521 square metres (Luzi and neighbourhood) and will last one year and provide a safer living to about 5,500 residents. On the other hand, the Japanese ambassador to Angola, Ryozo Myoi, said he was satisfied to implement the demining project in Luchazes municipality.
