Luanda – The Angolan Ministry of Social Welfare (MINARS) offered basic commodity to families affected by HIV/AIDS, especially in areas with high numbers of orphan children and elderly, like in the province of Cunene.
According to the deputy minister of Social Welfare, Maria da Luz, who was speaking to ANGOP, on the sidelines of the United Nations report on HIV/AIDS, areas that are to receive basic commodity are those with many children orphaned by infected disease and the elderly.
She added that MINARS, as a member of the coordination mechanism, has been conducting awareness activities among the employees on the prevention of HIV/AIDS.
The secretary-general of the ruling MPLA Party’s Women Wing (OMA), Luzia Inglês Van-Dunem, said that OMA will implement the community programmes of education and awareness such as lectures relating to the disease, so that people adhere to tests.
