Cuanza Norte: Rains leave 2,419 homeless

Ndalatando - At least 2,419 people were left homeless in northern Cuanza Norte province after their houses collapsed as a result of the heavy rains hat hit the region from January 27 to February 10 this year.

The information is contained in a press release from the Civil Protection and Fire Services that reached Angop on Thursday in Ndalatando.

According to the note, the rains in the period above mentioned destroyed 57 homes, 39 of which in Sassa, Vieta and São Filipe neighbourhoods, all in Ndalatando.

On the other hand, 18 cases collapsed in the localities of Quissanga and Zona nº2, in Dondo, municipality of Cambambe.

In addition to the collapsed houses, 372 homes in Ndalatando and 46 in Dondo flooded, while the bridge over Catende river (Ndalatando) inundated, halting traffic on the 230 National Road for hours, the source adds.
