Lobito - Seven people were killed and 142 left homeless in the locality of Egipto Praia, Lobito, central Benguela province, following heavy rains that hit the region in the last three days.
The information was released Wednesday in Lobito by the acting head of the Provincial Department of Civil Protection and Fire Services.
According to Abílio Domingos, who was assessing the consequences of the rains of last Saturday and Sunday, seven people, four from the same family (mother and children), died when their Kacala ward home callapsed.
The official underlined that 38 houses collapsed, while another 91 are currently at risk, having those displaced been assisted with foodstuffs and used clothes.
Lobito was hit in March last year by heavy rains that killed dozens of people.
