-- The influx of refugees from Angola into Zambia is worrying security
personnel in the country's Northwestern Province, the Zambia Daily Mail
reported on Wednesday.
The report quoted Hudson Beenzu, police
chief of the province, as saying that so far the province has received
1,060 Angolan refugees at border entry points in Mwinilunga and Zambezi.
He said that over the past three days, the number of refugees entering Zambia has increased to higher proportions, adding that the refugees are being kept at the camp in Kaoma and Maheba in the provincial city of Solwezi.
Zambia is currently hosting over 255,000 refugees, including 199,087 form Angolan, 47,438 from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, 4,924 from Rwanda and 1,871 from Burundi.
