Luena, 01/28 - The Mass Vaccination Programme (PAV) immunized at least 822,223 children under 14 years old, throughout last year, in eastern Moxico province, the local supervisor, Ines Margarida told ANGOP today.
That official indicated that during this period, the biggest number of children was vaccinated during the first and second phase, being 495,184 against polio and 327,740 on measles.
The official added that in the same period there were administered about 99,879 doses of vitamin A to little ones, to avoid cases of blindness.
Ms Ines Margarida made known that the other 26,712 children were immunized against cough, 904 on tuberculosis, 9,562 against yellow fever, as well as 35,620 pregnant women against tetanus.
The journeys were guaranteed by at least 278 brigades and integrated by nearly 600 vaccinators, distributed in the districts of Luau, Luacano, Leua, Lumeje-Cameia, Alto-Zambeze, Kamanongue, Bundas, Luchazes and Moxico city.
The PAV's supervisor praised the aid given by the government authorities, UN Agencies and NGOs, with transports, technical material and human resources, which enabled the success of this activity. (Source: ANGOP)
