Ndalatando, 05/30 - Some 4,992 cases of malaria, from which 117 resulted in deaths, were recorded from January to March this year in the Hospital of Ndalatando city, northern Kwanza Norte province, ANGOP learnt from a medical source.
The hospital's director general, Caetano José Miguel said that there was an increase of 2,928 cases of malaria diagnosed in comparison to data of the same period of 2006.
The official also quoted the diagnosis 82 cases of severe respiratory diseases, resulting in one death and 32 cases of diarrhoea with one death.
Altogether the hospital reported 119 deaths, with a 3,6 percent mortality rate.
According to him, the institution has enough medicine and is capable to respond to any case.
The hospital with a hospitalisation capacity of 250, has 316 workers, including 169 nurses and over 10 physicians.
