Ondjiva, 05/29 - Angolan Social Welfare minister, João Baptista Kussumua, is since Monday in southern Cunene province to assess, along with the local authorities, conditions to kick off de-mining programme in the region.
João Baptista Kussumua noted that the engineering teams of Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) s' militaries and National Institute of Landmine Experts are already on the ground and will work in the assessment of conditions enabling the start of de-mining operations in the stretch along electricity line of Oshicango/Ondjiva, Ruacana, Xangongo Kahama and Peccus.
The minister considered as urgent the clearing of the line with a view to the installation of the line conveying power from Oshikango to PECCus, for the country's development.
To him, the geographic position of Cunene in relation to Kuando-Kubango will enable the technician team to share significant progress of work resulting in security of circulation of people and goods.
