Angola: Soyo cholera outbreak under control - Zaire governor
Mbanza Congo - The governor of the northern Zaire province, José Joanes André, announced on Tuesday in Mbanza Congo city that cholera outbreak hitting Soyo municipality since last December is under control.
The official said so at the opening ceremony of the first ordinary meeting of the provincial government.
He said the measures applied by the sanitary authorities and partners to curb the cholera outbreak are having the expected results, stressing that so far here, 145 cases of cholera have been notified claiming the lives of six people.
“We are since last December up to January 7 this year without recording any death by cholera, which means that the response plan outlined by the authorities are having great results”, said the official.
According to the governor, the measures had positive impact due to the prompt availability of the medical staff and medicines by the Ministry of Health.
