Luanda, 04/02 - Some 28 sheltering areas which served to camp former Unita soldiers and their relatives were recently closed in 10 provinces of the country, on Wednesday here stated the Angolan Social Welfare Minister, Jo=E3o Baptista Kussumua.
Mr. Kussumua, who was addressing the opening session of the first meeting of the Group of Humanitarian Coordination (GHC), added that the camps were located in the provinces of Benguela, Kwanza-Sul, Cunene, Bengo, Moxico, Zaire, Bie, Kwanza-Norte, Lunda-Norte and Huambo and allowed the returning of 241,589 people to their area of origin since November 2002 to March 29, 2003.
According to the source, 56,002 are demobilized and 185,587 are their relatives.
The social and professional reinsertion of former Unita soldiers and their relatives has been carried out in a satisfactory way, he considered, adding that this is due to the supplying of food and other essential goods, providing of money to support the reinsertion, plus the social and professional training.
